The ChibiRoom is a fun recent addition to OMG!con. It is a room devoted to our youngest attendees. The ChibiRoom provides a safe place for them to release excess energy and connect with other children. The room will provide various activities and things to do over the course of the convention.
General Information:
- Are there certain hours for the ChibiRoom? The ChibiRoom will be available from 9am until 8pm Friday and Saturday, and 9am until 5pm on Sunday.
- Does the ChibiRoom cost anything? The room is free to anyone with an OMG!con badge. Children under the age of 12 get in free with a paid adult badge. Two children allowed per badge.
- What ages is this play area designed for? The ChibiRoom is open to all ages, however it is geared towards children aged 9 and under.
- Do you have different sections for different age groups? We are working to make a designated area for babies this year that will allow them to have tummy time and crawl about without any fear of older kids accidentally playing too close.
- What type of flooring is used in the play area? We have play safe foam flooring tiles down in areas to help protect little ones.
Safety and Supervision:
- Do I need to supervise my child while they are playing? Children are to be supervised by an adult guardian at all times during the convention. This extends to the ChibiRoom as well.
- What are the basic safety rules for using the play area? No running, No pushing, Share toys and craft supplies.
- What should I do if I see a safety concern or potential hazard? Please report any concerns to the Staff or Volunteers in the ChibiRoom.
- Are there staff members on duty to monitor the play area? Yes, there will always be at least one Staff or Volunteer member in the room at all times.
Food and Drink:
- Are food and drinks allowed in the play area? Closed drinks are allowed as well as small snacks. We plan on having a screened off area for breastfeeding as well.
- Do you have any designated eating areas? Not in the ChibiRoom, however the convention center has an area on the ground floor with a Deli and Snack Area.
- Are there any restrictions on types of food or drinks allowed? No outside food or beverages are allowed in the convention center.
Cleaning and Hygiene:
- How often is the play area cleaned and sanitized? The area is routinely cleaned and sanitized during slower traffic times. A thorough cleaning is done at the end of the day. We do ask that guests to the ChibiRoom help maintain cleanliness by throwing away any trash and tidying any messes they may have made.
Emergency Procedures:
- What safety precautions are you taking? We do require that all of our guests to the ChibiRoom first stop at the Check In/Out desk as they enter the room. A Staff/Volunteer member will collect some general information from you (your name, child's name, phone number,etc.). At least one adult guardian is to remain with their child at all times. Before leaving the room we also require that you return to the Check In/Out desk to be properly checked out.
- What should I do in case of a medical emergency? Alert the Staff/Volunteer member in the room. We will instantly get in touch with a member from our Public Safety Team and proceed from there.
- Where is the nearest first aid station? First Aid is available at the round desk located in the convention center’s lobby. However bandaids for minor scrapes will be available at the ChibiRoom Check In/Out table if needed.
Clothing and Footwear:
- What type of clothing and footwear is recommended for the play area? Socks are required. Clothing/Cosplay must meet the same requirements as the convention.
Other Considerations:
- Are there any specific rules regarding toys or personal belongings brought into the play area? You're welcome to bring your own toys or items. The ChibiRoom is not responsible for your items. There is a lost and found available at the round desk in the convention center’s lobby.
- Do you offer any special events or activities for children? While we don't currently have the schedule made, we do intend on having a few activities for our younger guests. We look forward to the return of the Chibi Dance Party and Chibi Coloring Time. Other activities to be announced!
